Photographing Mount Fuji from Fujiyoshida - Japan 🏔️✨📸

Mount Fuji is an iconic mountain in Japan, and though there are plenty of photographs online showcasing the wide and unique mountain in all it’s glory, it is actually only visible for around 80 days or less per year. That means there is only a 20% chance you’ll see the mountain when you visit. When I found out this information, I was pretty gutted, we had booked Japan fairly last minute and though we weren’t going there to see Mount Fuji, it was still a bucket list shot for me. Turns out, the best months to visit are actually December to February, and thankfully we would be in Japan in January.

We booked our excursion to Fujiyoshida in classic type B fashion; the day before. This meant that we didn’t really do any research and we kind of just presumed the property we booked would be right where we needed it to be. It did have a very gorgeous view of Fuji itself, however it was about 6km from the classic Lawson spot we wanted to get to for sunrise. So, with no taxis available and in minus 2 degrees, we took the bikes from the rental property and hit the road at 5.30am for a 6am sunrise. It was definitely an adventure, it kind of felt like living out my teenage dream of riding bikes with friends through our hometown except it was freezing, all of us were struggling with the hills and both myself and Georgia couldn’t change gear. Still, it’ll probably be my fondest memory from the trip, chaos and adventure mixed with some incredible photographs.

We were so lucky with complete visibility of Fuji, not a cloud in sight. So without further ado, I present to you the photographs I took on our overnight excursion to visit Mt Fuji.
