Solo Van life in Wales - Wild Camping ⛰️

Wales has quickly become one of my favourite places for solo van life in the UK. With its dramatic coastlines, peaceful lay-bys, and endless hiking trails, it's a dream for anyone chasing freedom, solitude, and wild camping in Wales. As a female van lifer, I wanted to share a glimpse into a few real days on the road – along with some of my favourite spots for hiking in Wales and outdoor photography in the UK.

Recently, I spontaneously drove to Wales in the hopes of a relaxing weekend and I found exactly what I was searching for—a silent park-up and a weekend of peace. Nestled in the heart of the Brecon Beacons, the tiny village of Talybont-On-Usk delivered breathtaking views, stillness, and the perfect van life park up. With the reservoir stretching beside me and the quiet road at night, it felt like a hidden sanctuary. After breathing in the slow pace of the south, I ventured up to the north of the country to Snowdonia. I managed to find myself in the heart of Betws-y-Coed park alongside a Lake between the mountains. I hiked and journaled by a waterfall, got a little lost in the wilderness and enjoyed the sunset from my van. All in all a wonderful welsh escape.

There’s something about waking up by a lake, coffee in hand, camera ready, and nowhere to be. From Snowdonia to the Brecon Beacons, these landscapes are made for slow mornings and photographing nature in the UK.
