The Best Coastal Town in the UK? Eastbourne - The Mediterranean of the UK South Coast
From the towering pure white cliffs to the seemingly endless flower gardens along the promenade, Eastbourne has everything you could want from a trip to the seaside. A place that acquired the reputation of ‘God’s waiting room’ - meaning it was full of old people - has rapidly become one of my favourite spots in the uk. There are lots of walks to choose from, a pier, a vast seafront with plenty of cafes, and cliff top views you just can’t beat.
With a 2.5 kilometre stretch of beach from the pier all the way to the starting point of the cliffs, there is room for everyone. The beach front is lined with little hidden pathways that snake up through the luscious green trees which give it that Mediterranean feel. Even on a gloomy day, it brings breath taking views of the expansive coast. If you choose to hike up to the cliff tops, you can find never-ending views of the countryside inland and a gorgeous lighthouse which is hidden behind the cliffs and can only be found if you walk all the way out to the Bell Tout Lighthouse.
I photographed eastbourne on a gorgeously sunny day in June, capturing the bright blue skies and wonderful golden hours of sunrise and sunrise - see below my gallery, all shot on the Fujifilm XT-5.
